The current and
sometimes shocking health behaviors and trends in the younger
generation can influence their oral and systemic health.
The dental professional has an opportunity during the dental visit
to identify risk behaviors and intervene with the teenager to make
positive health choices.
Participants will engage in a lively discussion on timely topics
relating to teens. Dialogue may include oral and overall health
issues associated with cola/sports drink consumption, eating
disorders, obesity and substance abuse (Meth Mouth).
Examining high-risk
behaviors and gender differences
prepare the dental
professional to initiate conversations that will provide guidance
with the health decisions that face
the youth of today.

SPEAKER: LINDA BLACKISTON, RDH, BS,
Linda received her Bachelor of Science in Dental
Hygiene from Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, Dental School,
University of Maryland after she hadbeen a business owner for nine
years. Her professional and clinical background includes; corporate
pharmaceuticals, general practice, periodontics and a staff position
in pediatric dentistry at the University of Maryland.
Linda has a passion for volunteering and serves
underprivileged areas in the US and Mexico. She works with
Children's Regional Oral Health Consortium (C.R.O.C.) as a
volunteer, providing school screenings and education.
Linda is currently a Professional Educator for
Philips /Sonicare. She lectures nationally on women’s health issues,
pediatric dentistry, oral health for seniors, strategies for oral
health, patience compliance and biofilms. Linda has been published
in both dental and dental hygiene publications.
She continues to practice dental hygiene part-time in
the Baltimore area while presenting courses nationally to dental
professionals.

the art technologies. Lisa is passionately committed to
education and research surrounding periodontal diseases and implant
dentistry. She is a member of the national “Speaking Consultants
Network, an author, a contributing columnist for many national
